Lionel Dayton is a Senior Structural Engineer with 30 years of experience across diverse project types, structural systems, and construction materials. He has served as Engineer of Record for projects ranging from single-family homes and large multifamily developments to high-rise structures and historic renovations. His expertise includes multi-discipline coordination, constructability, forensic evaluation, problem resolution, and practical structural solutions.
At HFA, Lionel serves as a technical resource for the Studio, supporting multiple disciplines and helping teams navigate complex design and construction challenges. As part of the Learning & Development group, he also helps create training opportunities that strengthen technical knowledge and design quality. Lionel has presented on cold-formed metal framing, post-tensioned concrete, coordination, and historic preservation. His experience also includes expert witness work, forensic evaluations, and involvement with 11 patents.
