Mercy Hospital NWA opened in 2008 as a 200-bed facility in one of the nation's fastest-growing regions. By 2013, rapid growth caused bed shortages and strained services. A master plan projected capacity limits across nursing units and Emergency Department by 2015, support areas by 2019. A 2015 expansion added a seven-story bed tower connecting to support services, imaging, and surgery on lower floors, with upper floors aligned to existing nursing units. A new north entry with two-story gallery improved access to admitting, testing, and waiting areas. Program Highlights: 314,259 SF new construction, 61,044 SF renovation
139 private beds (36 cardiac, 17 NICU, 14 pediatric, 72 med-surg)
8 ORs (1 CVOR, 1 hybrid, 2 general, 4 shelled)
24-bed PACU and 34 private pre/post rooms
4 cath labs
2 CT rooms, 5 ultrasound rooms
26 private pre/post rooms for Invasive Cardiology
Major renovation/relocation of sterile processing, pharmacy, lab, materials management, dietary services, and other first-floor departments. *Note: Steven Warlick‚ role on this project was that of Owner/President of the Design firm ultimately responsible for the overall success of the project.
