HFA Acquires Chesapeake Design Group, Strengthening Architectural Capabilities and Regional Growth

With deep Mid-Atlantic roots and a legacy of client-first design, Chesapeake Design Group joins HFA—bringing new talent, expanded services, and a shared passion for people-driven partnerships.

HFA Architecture + Engineering has announced the acquisition of Chesapeake Design Group (CDG), a boutique architecture firm based in Baltimore, Maryland, known for its client dedication, regional expertise, and legacy of quality. The move marks a strategic expansion of HFA's architectural bench and reinforces the firm's commitment to delivering integrated, multidisciplinary services across the country.

"From our very first conversation, we recognized how well our purpose and culture aligned around leading our client partners with passionate and empowered people," said Dave Wilgus, CEO of HFA. "Part of our vision is to expand our regional presence while securing vital talent. Bringing CDG into the HFA community achieves both very well."

Founded in the Mid-Atlantic and proudly family-owned, CDG has spent decades providing tailored architectural solutions and building strong partnerships. With this transition, CDG clients will now gain access to HFA's broader team of in-house disciplines, services, and resources.

For CDG President Arielle Goldman, the transition is both a natural fit and an exciting new chapter. "In joining HFA, I see an opportunity to affirm and strengthen our commitment to our people and clients, while also expanding our services. CDG has always been more than just a company to me, and with HFA I am confident that we have found a true home and I'm excited for our future together."

As of August 1, CDG will operate fully under the HFA brand, with its team joining HFA's existing studios across Bentonville, Boston, Fort Worth, Springfield, and Mexico City. Clients can expect the same high level of personalized service they've come to trust—now backed by HFA's full suite of in-house disciplines and national resources.

This expansion not only enhances HFA's geographic footprint but also positions the firm to pursue new project opportunities and deepen support for key accounts in the restaurant and commercial sectors.
