HFA Promotes Rick McGraw to Civil + Landscape Lead

From designing community spaces to mentoring future leaders, Rick McGraw has always led with purpose. Now, as our new Civil + Landscape Lead, he’s ready to help HFA reach even greater heights.

HFA is proud to announce the promotion of Rick McGraw (PLA, ASLA, CLARB Certified) to Civil + Landscape Lead. In his new role, Rick will spearhead innovation and growth within HFA’s civil practice while continuing to mentor and collaborate with colleagues across the firm.

Rick’s passion for the industry stems from its unique ability to shape the environments where people live, work, and play. He views every project as an opportunity to improve everyday life.

“Rick’s promotion reflects not only his consistent results, but also the way he leads with purpose—developing people, building trust, and inspiring others. He has a rare ability to connect strategy to execution while keeping our culture front and center, and this new role gives him an even bigger platform to do that,.” said Garrett Small (PE), Vice President of Civil Engineering + Landscape Design at HFA.

Rick has played an instrumental role in HFA’s civil and landscape projects. A highlight of his career was leading his first independent project, an experience that sharpened his skills in leadership, problem-solving, and collaboration—qualities he now applies in mentoring and guiding others. He credits accountability as a core value that has shaped his professional journey, influencing how he builds trust with clients, fosters teamwork, and drives meaningful results.

In his new role, Rick will partner closely with marketing and client partnership teams to identify opportunities, enhance HFA’s capabilities, and drive go-to-market strategies. He is also committed to advancing growth initiatives for the civil team while continuing to deliver innovative, sustainable, and client-focused solutions.

Reflecting on the promotion, Rick shared: “This new role is a chance to raise the bar even higher. I’m ready to help drive growth, support our team, and deliver meaningful results for the clients and communities we serve.”
