Cannon McNair Named Chief Strategy Officer

CEO Dave Wilgus and Chief Strategy Officer Cannon McNair discuss HFA’s people-first growth strategy and the value of strong client relationships in the evolving AEC industry.

BENTONVILLE, Ark., Feb. 18, 2025 -- HFA Architecture + Engineering today announced the promotion of Cannon McNair to Chief Strategy Officer (CSO)—a significant step in the national AEC firm's growth and evolution.

"HFA is committed to strategically addressing challenges and identifying opportunities to further its leadership across key market sectors," said HFA CEO Dave Wilgus (AIA, NCARB). "As our business rapidly evolves, having someone who can confidently drive change and embrace innovation is crucial. Cannon embodies the growth mindset needed to expand our reach and reputation as a trusted solution provider."

As Director of Brand + Marketing for the past four years, McNair has applied creative thinking, entrepreneurial experience and a background in business economics to lead HFA's brand initiatives and, working closely with senior leadership, implement market-focused growth plans.

Along the way, he has built a reputation for being practical and forward-thinking, Wilgus said. "His ability to think ahead—often far ahead—has been a hallmark of his leadership," the CEO said. "Cannon not only brings the vision and determination to fuel our growth, but he also plays a critical role in shaping innovative and strategic decisions that define who we are as a brand."

As CSO, McNair plans to continue fostering HFA's integrated and collaborative approach to client-focused architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) solutions.

"Our ability to identify challenges and opportunities that are unique to each market sector positions us as a valued innovator capable of shaping the future of our field," McNair said. "We believe in challenging industry norms to deliver thoughtful designs that respond to the rapidly changing built environment in bold, impactful ways."

McNair's focus in the new role also includes bringing growth and innovation to the workplace. "We see a future where our employee-owned AEC firm redefines what it means to be an exceptional workplace—one that is fresh, innovative and built for our people to succeed," McNair said.

He concluded, "We're at an exciting crossroads—where shifting consumer mindsets are redefining design, clients are competing through greater differentiation, and the workforce expects more from their careers than ever before. As one of the oldest industries in human history, we must evolve, and we're committed to shaping the future of how we design, build, and lead."
